The level of depth in this game is amazing!

    Posted: 05 Jul 2021 10:55 PM PDT

This is my first time ever playing a CK game and I'm hooked. I'm about 100 years away from the end of my first successful campaign. Anyway, I thought I'd share my succession/dynasty story so far.

This is a story about High King Dummad, rightful heir of Ireland. Greatness ran in his veins. His great-grandfather, King Murchad, drove the vikings out of Ireland. His grandfather, High King Seamus, unified Ireland and greatly improved its military infrastructure. His father, High King Mac, spearheaded the Catholic movement and elevated Ireland to a new level or prosperity.

Dummad was a troubled child, he was rowdy and prone to anger outbursts. Most of his family members and court did not like him. At the age of 17, Dummad became High King when his father died suddenly of illness. Within half a year, members of his family formed a faction to seize power from him. Due to his abrasive personality, Dummad had no one to call on at his most desperate hour.

Dummad scraped together whatever army he could and he faced his Ursurpers in a pointless battle. He lost the battle and the throne, and he was gifted a scar to remind him of his failure. Within a 2 year span, he went from the High King of Ireland to the Duke of Muenster.

He spent the next 20 years building alliances, conquering neighboring dutchies, and working in the shadows. During this time, there were several attempts made on his life which left him a one-eyed peg-leg in an iron mask. Once the stars were aligned in his favor, he went back for his throne.

This time, his army was glorious. He had highly trained soldiers and his allies included mighty kings and bloodthirsty vikings. The battle for Ireland was over before Dummad's enemy could reach full military strength.

Reclaiming his throne wasn't enough. Dummad needed to teach his vassals a lesson. He spent 25+ years systematically hunting down and killing his usurpers and their conspirators. At some point, he earned the title of "The Flayer". This title was a badge of honor for the Dynastic Kinslayer himself.

Dummad The Flayer spent his twilight years ruling with an iron fist (and mask) until he passed away from cancer.

His son would go on the become the kindest, and most beloved, High King that Ireland has ever had.

    This game is amazing.

    Religion should have more depth

    Posted: 06 Jul 2021 08:06 AM PDT

You can't deny the huge impact religion had in the middle ages in all of its sides, especially during the times of crusades and jihads done by the Muslims and the Christians (especially that this game is literally called CRUSADER kings). Unfortunately, you see many religions that are botched in the game or lacking huge amounts of depth. For example, you can see that religions that are very poorly understood in the game, like islam, for instance.

The game shows that "Ashari" is the main faith of the Islam, while in reality, it was a fiqh school that rivaled with mu'tazila and other fiqh schools and did not even exist before 934 (which, according to the game, is the main faith even in the 867 start date before it even existed). Despite that, the game shows male adultery and same sex marriage etc in the game "shunned" in the ash'ari faith, while in reality they were all punishable by death (for those who are asking, yes. Male adultery is punishable by death in islam).

Christianity is also bot that great. Popes were ELECTED in the church, not just randomly appearing in the game. Furthermore, the 7 sins and virtues do not exist, although it was present in both orthodoxy and Catholicsm.

I can't go over othe religions, because I have very poor knowledge in them.

    For the Developers of CK3

    Posted: 05 Jul 2021 07:24 PM PDT

Can we just take a moment to appreciate the people working on this game? First of all, the game itself is simply awesome. These updates, however... amazing. Just incredible. They also aren't wringing us dry for money on each significant feature added to the game. This new cultures update? It's what CK2 was missing all this time. This game is awesome, and so are the people who work on it. I know we like to complain a lot, but this game really did surpass expectations.

So, what's your first custom culture going to be?

    Posted: 06 Jul 2021 08:50 AM PDT

Straight answer: Some hybrid culture caused by Hastein's invasion.

Real answer: One-upping my previous naked egalitarian Byzantines by pairing the nudist religion with a culture of hippies.

Is there a way to modify global fertility/amount of children?

    Posted: 06 Jul 2021 10:43 AM PDT

I feel like you get too many children in CK3, not only is it really annoying with partition succession but it's also more difficult to focus on the characters. It feels like they're just numbers and not characters.

Even if a wife dies early for some reason and you remarry a woman in her 40s you'll still get 2 extra children? Seems a bit weird. Tried to find a mod on the steam workshop but I only found one that increases fertility even more.

Imagine how epic would be a game that combine the mechanics of Ck and mount and blade

    Posted: 05 Jul 2021 11:06 PM PDT

Imagine walking through the magnificent medieval cities, the houses, streets, monuments, their people, imagine walking on a recently conquered Jerusalem and be able to see the magnificence of your conquer . And at the same time being able of have diplomacy, war, marriages, aestethics, religion, etc.

I know Mount and Blade Bannerlord already has a diplomacy sistem, but please, it's barely nothing compared to ck
