Am I do it correctly ??

    Posted: 25 Jul 2021 12:33 AM PDT

It's so goddamn infuriating that your liege can just give in to a peasant factions demand about your land without you being asked to fight it.

    Posted: 25 Jul 2021 08:07 AM PDT

Looks like they kept things... tidy back then. (I swear this is just a glitch)

    Posted: 25 Jul 2021 02:53 AM PDT

    Well, that's highly unhistorical...

I'm gay and my blind wife got pregnant during my celibacy.

    Posted: 24 Jul 2021 02:38 PM PDT

Title pretty much says it all. Is there an option to claim that she cheated on me and not accept the kid as my own? I don't want to give it a title later on and I'm not looking to become a kinslayer either (maybe by the time I'm about to kick the bucket). It would also be a good reason to get a divorce and make some legitimate children with a new wife...

Am I the only one that plays of speed 2?

    Posted: 24 Jul 2021 07:53 PM PDT

I really like to role play and milk a character for all it's worth, checking truces and the situation of other empires like every month. I only really speed it up when I am rushing a particular event or end truce. I don't even speed up sieges to be more immersive

The game is literally kidding me and that’s frustrating

    Posted: 24 Jul 2021 06:51 PM PDT

I am playing as France and I swear to God, every single time I got a good ruler with great stats, the 2 months following his ascension to the throne, He gets cancer. And that always happens at the worse possible moment. And this just happened with a ruler who've got 2 sons who are only 6 yo and a dying mother with a pressed claim on England. Naturally, the treatment moment comes and my court physician who is a renowned physician fuck her treatment leaving me, a 43 yo at death door. I am playing Ironman and I almost cried. I've been trying to conquer England for 4 generations and just when things work my way, the game hit me with cancer just like it always do...

How Nomads Could be Modelled in CK3

    Posted: 25 Jul 2021 05:21 AM PDT

I think we can agree trying to model nomadic herding societies like feudal ones isnt really accurate to how they functioned IRL and they definitely need some attention in some later flavor pack/expansion which could flesh them out. In this post I'm going to throw out some ideas for a potential nomadic themed DLC, particularly focusing on the central asian steppe.

First up, the nomadic government type. Rulers of steppe would no longer be considered tribal, and instead would have unique holdings to better reflect their societal differences. Nomadic holdings would generate -50% levies and gold than tribal holdings, however in exchange their units would be much more powerful. You also wouldn't be able to build anything in nomadic holdings, as technically they would be constantly on the move. The nomadic government type would exist in primarily Central Asia, although also perhaps the Sahara and parts of Arabia. To feudalize a nomadic holding would cost double as much as feudalizing a tribal holding.

Because nomadic holdings wouldn't have any 'defences' there would be no siege warfare or occupation of enemy holdings in nomad vs nomad warfare. Instead wars would be decided by battles, and instead of carpet sieging your opponent to get 100% warscore, it would instead be necessary to completely destroy all your opponents army. Regarding nomad vs feudal wars, to achieve victory the feudal would still have to totally destroy the nomad army while the nomad would have to siege down the feudal holdings.

Nomads wouldn't have traditional levies, instead having 'riders'. Because of the nomadic holding type, there would be half as many as usual levies, although they would be more effective in a variety of ways. Regular levies in ck3 have about 10 damage and 10 toughness, while riders would have 30 damage and 20 toughness. Riders would also have 2x movement speed, making them highly manoeuvrable and deadly.

To reflect the general ability of nomads to better work with the natural land, when sending their army over a county they do not control they would only incur 50 casualties instead of 100, and would have a -25% attrition buff.

Regarding monetary income, without raiding nomads would easily go broke. This is why they would have to resort to raiding their neighbours constantly just to not go in debt (if tribals didn't do that anyway). Alternatively they could decide to go begin paths of conquest and subjugation, utilising their very effective army to subdue rich foreign lands and become fabulously wealthy.

Feudal vassals with nomad lieges would provide no levies, however would have to provide 50% more tax. Nomad vassals with feudal lieges would provide effectively no tax (because they don't really have much of an income), no levies, however would lower maintenance of men at arms cavalry units for their liege.

Trying to hold down foreign lands would be no easy feat though, constantly having to subdue populist revolts and feudal tributaries who would despise your perceived tyranny. Dread would be essential in maintaining control over a primarily foreign empire, as punishing foreign subjects would not incur tyranny.

Dread would also now be gained from simple acts such as raiding, conquering, and crushing revolts. Foreign rulers who fear your wrath may offer their vassalisation to prevent getting pillaged, although you wouldn't expect them to stay loyal in any moments of weakness.

Alongside all these changes are your basic cultural flavoring and events. I think these changes would really make playing as a nomad an immersive and realistic experience, and would allow real gengis khan scenarios with the occasional steppe warlord managing to conquer half of asia. Feel free to make any additional related suggestions in the comments.

One man's journey for a united Slavia

One man's journey for a united Slavia

After having messed around with the Northern Lords, raiding the British Isles constantly, getting a High King of the Seas and elevation of Mann game, I wanted to try something different.

    Something... Slavic.

Starting my way with House Mazowszan as a lowly Count, I worked towards the first milestone; uniting the Western Slavs. Cue High King Konrad 'The Wend'. After a hundred years of conquering, scheming, and in general getting it on with everybody, this man managed to unite the disparate western Slavs.

From then on, I managed to sow the seeds of my own... Challenges... in the future. Recognizing that I would have to contend with the Byzantines at some point, I elected to use Hungary/Bulgaria as a shield while I consolidated my power in Russia. To do so, I allied with Sweden by marrying a third daughter of the King or some such.

Well. As luck would have it, my lovely Queen inherited large chunks of Scandinavia and I found myself being called to every.single.war. Me being the doting husband that I am, I shipped my troops over on the regular. This little maneuver cost me about 200 years, also having to contend with a very irate Russian/Kabarite population who just would not stop rebelling, especially after I reformed the Slovianskan faith and consecrated my bloodline.

I also abdicated the Empire at one point and sat back making babies because my vassals really, really didn't care for one of my heirs that I ended up playing.

Somehow made it back to the big throne and began my quest anew. The tale of Chief Volkhv Swietopelk is the next of note because this is a man who survived beat cancer, gout, and having the johnson snipped during treatment. He also had very strong ties with the emerging Great Khan, even managing to marry into the bloodline. That alliance held the Byzantine's off for a long, long time before sadly, the Khanates imploded.

He stilled lived to die of old age, and left a fantastic heir. Chief Nadzieja wasted no time in strengthening the bloodline, becoming the 'Blood-Mother' which is just a superb title. The next century involved consolidating my power base by actually conquering all scandinavia and the north-east of the map (I was afraid of the Byzantines once my Mongol alliance died out...).

In other news, France became mostly Barcelon, a french Muslim clan that was always broke. Weird.

My vassals being the power-hungry Poles they are, conquered too far into Europe which made the Pope mighty unhappy. Things got a bit messy for a while there but Chief Volkh Jakusz sent him packing.

The next 30-40 years were dedicated towards earning back the rightfully slavic lands from the byzantines, through a combination of holy wars, timely assassinations, and in general feeding the war machine. Eventually they broke against the might of the Southern Baltic Empire, and Chief Volkh Stanislawa formalized the Slavic Empire. Not my finest heir but changing between primo and ultimogeneture is bringing me back to the less inbred version. But I digress.

Now with not much time left to go before the curtain draws on this Slavic Empire, I have one remaining task left; smash the papacy!

tldr; stopped being a viking and embraced my inner Slav. 10/10 would Slav again.

Konrad was a busy man with many demanding allies!

In his sunset years he managed to unite the Western Slavs.

Enter Chief Volkhv Swietopelk, the gout ridden, one legged, one-eyed, eunuch with cancer.

Just a little casual cancer remission while conquering the world.

Although the Chief lost a lot of parts over the course of the treatments, this court physician was legendary and retired with a nice plot of land and a young handsome lad from my dynasty.

After all that, he died of old age.

    Ain't she a beaut?

This battle was very, very close and made all the difference!

I wish I knew what happened here.

    Some proper crusading happened here.

But in the end, the combined might of Slavia/Scandinavia could not be undone.

This was a very good feeling!

Next stop - dismantle the papacy before the game ends!
