Are there any plans to nerf Byzantium?

    Posted: 05 Jun 2021 08:32 AM PDT

I understand this community is filled with romeaboos and that paradox wants to appeal to them, but it's a bit tiring seeing Byzantium take over most of russia and much of arabia, basically always making the muslims a non-threat to the christian world. The primary reason they are so op is because they start with primogeniture. Either paradox needs to make seljuks more powerful, or make byzantine vassals more likely to claim the throne than in other empires (Maybe some special mechanic where they automatically get a claim on the throne if they are more powerful than the emperor? Just a thought.)

Can Rollo take over Normandy on Ironman (and be playable)?

    Posted: 05 Jun 2021 07:51 AM PDT

I'm looking to start a new campaign after a very satisfying 1066 Anjou run and thought I'd see how the game handles Rollo. If I understand correctly, Rollo is a courtier of the Chieftain of Prandheimr in Norway at game start in 867. Does this mean there's no way to play him other than taking over land as the Chieftain of Prandheimr, granting it to Rollo and then switching characters? Of course, char switching is barred in Ironman.

I think the only in-game mechanic that could even do this on Ironman is when you have the option to switch to a successful Crusade beneficiary, and that context doesn't apply here. Any ideas?

It triggered me so much Catalonia-Aragon's de jure capital wasn't Barcelona, rather Zaragoza, so i did a bit of trolling to the game's files

CK3: Has the war AI gotten worse?

    Posted: 05 Jun 2021 08:34 AM PDT

After not really playing the game for several months, I recently got back into a savegame I'd been playing and where I'm currently fighting as the Danelaw to unify Britain. However, I feel like my allies have suddenly undergone fairly thorough lobotomies:

    - They abort sieges right before finishing them, even if the besieged province is the enemy's ONLY province and even if they're not threatened at all.

    - Instead of reinforcing my troops with their superior force in an adjacent battle (as they used to), they first walk in the opposite direction to gather their forces, letting the enemy roflstomp my troops.

    - They park 80% of their troops in the countryside, besieging one holding with the remaining 20% and letting the enemy siege their way through my and their territory with inferior forces while their troops are busy twiddling their thumbs over a plate of haggis.

I used to think that the war AI was reasonably competent, especially when dealing with reinforcing ongoing battles. Now, it just seems like it's actively trying to sabotage my war effort. Has anyone else experienced something similar?
