I'd like a game setting (realism mode) where you only know what your character knows

    Posted: 04 Jun 2021 02:45 AM PDT

A game setting where you only see map details about the province you're in. Where you can't search for all the characters in the game. Where you can send letters to heads of state asking for betrothal and receiving a reply with some candidates a few days later.

Where when your armies muster you can opt to lead the host and either get involved in the battle with a risk of dying, or lead from afar without risk of dying but still using your advantage skill in the battle. Otherwise you can opt to follow the host using someone else's advantage for battle but still seeing what the army is up to, being present. In both cases your regent would stay in the capital to administer the realm. The alternative is you giving one of your Knights the control of army, only to receive occasional letters from them updating you on the current situation (lost/won battles, certain strategic decision (hunt down enemt/siege capital)) but staying in the capital administering the realm.

Where vikings would leave their wife or regent in charge of the realm when going on raids, and only being updated on your return (if you've been attacked, maybe even already annexed and you need to occupy your capital to win back your realm with your raiding host)

Where you never know precise numbers of other characters stats, traits & opinions, but only learn more precise details by the longer you've known them (courtiers in your court, Knights in your host), the more you've interacted with them (events, receiving letters, using their skills in Councillor tasks). Instead you'd know that a characters martial is average, or that their intrigue skill is unknown to you. Some traits (eg just/brave) of certain people (rulers/knights) become common knowledge and known to everyone, where some traits you won't find out unless you uncover them (through a plot - dishonest/ through interaction - cynical). Prestige could either exaggerate specific details you think you know about someone, or perhaps make their true skills more commonly known as more people have heard of them.

These are just a few suggestions for a realism mode and given enough collective thought I imagine there could be loads of other cool ideas. What do you think?

So if you play a Chinese man as the leader of Tibet, it's not Tibet anymore. It's Tubo. What the hell is a Tubo? A new competitor to Netflix?

Doing a Diplomacy Only Run, any Tips?

    Posted: 04 Jun 2021 10:24 AM PDT

I start as a count, and try to mainly use diplomacy to grow. I can't ask the Pope for Claim, or use any sorts of Intrigue. I welcome any tips or guides for this run!
