What are some of the best and worst start locations?

When I first picked this game up, my empire kept imploding after my initial ruler because heirs would fight over it. I believe in a Viking game I also ran into the election system they have and some douchebag uncle would call a vote when he had the most power and a child was the current leader. Now though, I feel like I'm finally getting the hang of this.

Thing is though, I'm also playing Mali, and perhaps it's hasty of me to say this, but is Mali just downright OP? There was legit a moment an ally dragged me into a war of theirs, somehow it ended up as my war, and exactly when my ruler died, another kingdom attacked me. (legit, I got the war message and the death message at the same moment)

Realizing I couldn't do much but hating the idea of a loss since I'd just managed 2 gold mines and they were putting in work, I checked ALL my options, including surrender, and realized surrender would let me keep the counties but lose the duchy. 10000000% okay with that decision, and then I just bided my time mining that gold until I could pay off enough mercenaries to take everything back.

That sounds like a Mali privilege right there and it's why I'm convinced Mali must be easymode or one of the strongest starts, but I'm still new and don't know for sure.

So I thought I'd ask in general:

What are some of the strongest, most fun or most interesting starts?

What are some of the weakest or most challenging starts?

And what regions tend to be hard/easy in general?
