The Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms period of China around 900 is insane; I took some time with the Tang map mod to re-create some of it, and it's awesome beyond words.

    Torture in CK3

    Posted: 26 Mar 2021 10:05 AM PDT

Currently one of torture's main gameplay purposes is to reveal secrets. This is, frankly, a false and misleading stereotype that contributes to a widespread cultural mistake of idealizing torture as some great revealer of truth when in actual fact it does the opposite. Torture is the domain of lies. Historically it's been used to extract false confessions of heresy, witchcraft or treason from political enemies and to perpetuate reigns of terror.

As such, torture should primarily be used to gain hooks on the tortured character. Someone who's skilled deeply into the torturing tree should be able to use torture to even gain hooks on relatives of the victim. Choosing to torture for information should have a high chance of revealing false leads, with consequences for believing them, leading you to accuse innocent people and look foolish, or else spend troops on hunting for imaginary plots against you.

Is there any reason witchcraft is criminal with Astaru?

    Posted: 26 Mar 2021 03:42 AM PDT

I can understand that witchcraft is devil worshiping for christianity which is why it is shunned, but im suprised that it is criminal for Astaru.

Consider it is pagan with many deities and you are giving offering to Freya - wife of Odin, wouldn't it make sense for witchcraft to be acceptable?

I did it! Meet Emperor Pope. I'm his vassal and gained enough territory for the pope to form the Empire of Italia. Which in turn allowed me to form the Kingdom of Italy. Together, we will take the world!
