    Claimats amuse me

    Posted: 20 Dec 2019 06:31 AM PST

Stories depicted in movies like outlaw king of a rightful claimat rallying the troops to take his rightful land depict everything about it as awesome. And to be honest why wouldnt it. A man rallying an army to war to take what is rightfully his.

Now if you imagine that everytime you get some "expedition" claim from some dude far away, imagine him rallying his troops of trustful friends and deliver a heartbraking speech to his army. Just to get absolutly smashed as soon as he lands by a the Powerful king "Joe Mama" from big dick dynasty, who executes him with the words "boy these guys are annoying as shit"

While a lot of us are rightfully hyped up for CK3, there's one major glaring issue that hasn't yet been addressed.

    Posted: 20 Dec 2019 11:15 AM PST

With the change towards 3D character portraits, the distinct portrait frames won't be present. What this means is that we'll lose our way to easily tailor memes to ck2. Does Paradox have a remedy for this? Can the subreddit find a substite?? Will we even survive???

Surviving the CHESS GAME OF DEATH

    Posted: 20 Dec 2019 09:04 AM PST

Nearly every Crusader Queen or King knows this frustrating event. And died. THE CHESS GAME OF DEATH! Do you want to survive? And even get a reward? The gift of death? Well, a few words to complete this event.

At first: as longs as the Reapers Due DLC is activated, there will be always a chance to trigger this event. Except supernatural events are switched off. In general, only Christians could experience this event, Nomads never. Or you're not a Christian, but you own a province who has a Christian neighbor.

With a seemingly harmless walk in the garden it begins... THE GAME OF DEATH
At the beginning you have the possibility to reject the offer. Don`t do that! 80% YOU`LL DIE!

In three rounds of a chess game you have to collect five points. A maximum of 6 are possible in three rounds through grandiose moves. However, there is the possibility to get additional points free. Basically:
    - You always choose black, never white. That´ll give you one point free
    - Do not avoid the person, invite him! Or you buy him a comfortable night at an inn - one point free
    - In the third round choosing "sacrifice" - a 50% chance on an additional point.
Before the game even starts, you already have 2 points for sure now. The chances are already quite good to jump death off the shovel.

With this trait composition you should always get through alive and you need neither try to cheat in the game and you do not have to be merciful (sacrifice) in the third round either.

    Gamemaster + Drunkard
Genius + Drunkard or Hedonist or Seducer or Impaler (I really like to stake vasalls hihihi, I´m sorry)
As you can see, gamemaster alone is not enough to survive the chess game of death, only if you have two additional free points. If you don´t have one of these five possible combinations, it gets a little riskier now. In the first two rounds you can risklessly collect points with a matching trait. If a trait fits, there is another answer possibility. Don´t miss it!

    ROUND ONE
Here you can collect additional points without risk with a matching trait.
Genius or Gamemaster = 2 points free
Shrewd or Deceitful or Quick or Schemer or Strategist = 1 point free ; No matching trait? Well, bad luck.
Schemer is no trait, it´s a modifier (rank 2) before you can get the masterschemer lifestyle trait.

Now you can make four different moves: awesome (2), good (1), bad (-1), terrible (-2)
Save move - 25% 1 point / 55% no point / 20% -1 point ; if you don`t have one free point YOU CAN DIE!
    Risky move - 20% 2 points / 40% 1 point / 40% -2 points ; if you don`t have two free points YOU CAN DIE!

    ROUND TWO
With a matching trait, you can again earn points without risk.
    Drunkard / Hedonist / Impaler / Seducer = 2 points
    Gamemaster = 1 point

Without matching trait the agony of choice remains...
    Concentrate - 25% 1 point / 75% no point
    Cheat - 67% 1 point / 33% -2 points ; maybe YOU`LL DIE YOU LOUSY MOTHAF.... CHEATER!

    ROUND THREE
Now you can sacrifice your lovely heir or maybe another one or trust your skill. You don´t have any skill playing chess? YOU CAN DIE! However, collecting free points with a matching trait is over now. Seriously. MAYBE YOU`LL DIE!

    The agony of choice again...
    Sacrifice - 15% 2 points / 35% 1 point / 35% - 1 point / 15% -2 points You make a terrible move in the end? Bad luck. Trust your skill - 20% 1 point / 50% no point / 30% -1 point
    Trust your skill with Gamemaster - 20% 2 points / 30% 1 point / 30% no point / 20% -1 point

You´re still alive? YOU MADE IT! The gift of death is waiting for you.

I have checked the information several times via "testevent", because they are a bit older and there are some patches out now. Everything fits. Each result could be exactly reproduced using the scoring system. I couldn´t figure out the system for free points, another Crusader King did it a while ago. Can´t remember his name. If the points slide into the minus area, you should die. Everything else you can check yourself: "Event RIP.30220". Open console, charinfo, and you get the exact percentages. CTRL + right mouse button and you open immediately the txt data for this event. Everyone can take this more closely under the magnifying glass themselves. By the way, this applies for all events in Crusader Kings. Usually this is much faster than searching the internet. Oh, wasn´t there a reward? THE GIFT OF DEATH? Play a round of chess and you'll find out. I won`t tell. It´s worth it.

The true way to play Crusader Kings, or how ro break the game

    Posted: 20 Dec 2019 09:51 AM PST

I've had some fun recently trying some "grimdark" rules while playing ck2 and it creates a whole new game experience.

Basically you do this with the game rules:

-Set the bubonic plague, minor and non epidemic diseases to come more often (this is optional, sometimes having to wage war on 100 supply limit and losing all your dinasty members is no fun even for me)

-Set revolt strenght to 4x, with this rebels can break even large kingdoms and empires and on one of my saves heretical rebels destroyed all of the catholic rulers.

-Slow religious convertion and combination culture convertion, because people deserve to live by, and die revolt for their customs and beliefs.

-And last of all, restricted diplomatic range, this can be annoying for some players but come reason with me, with all the plagues, death and raging peasants around, it can be difficult to send letters to faraway kingdoms.

-Harsh exclave independence, I dont know what this rule does most of the time but it can break some of the resulting bordergore from the other rules.

-Stable nomad stability, because big nomads = scary nomads.

-One last rule that I haven't tried, but will give a test drive, is setting demesne size and vassal limit to a quarter of the default for maximum suffering.
