So I recently started playing as the doux of Athens to try and revive Hellenism. So I'm quietly expanding, looking to form the Kingdom of Greece and declare independence all while spreading the good word of Zeus, when I notice that there's a revolt going on. I don't think anything of it, afterall it's the Byzantine Empire, when is it not revolting? Next thing I know, the rebels have won and they've made me Emperor because apparently they like the cut of my jib. So I'm suddenly Emperor of an empire that would burn me at the stake if they knew which gods I worship, there's a bunch of nobles saying that I owe them favours for something I didn't ask them to do and to cap it all I've never played as the Byzantine Emperor before so I have no idea what I'm doing.

Any advice for the Byzantine newbie?
