Casually started the new game, got punched in the gut with the feels

You know how sometimes there's this thing that everybody keeps talking about, but you don't really get the appeal of it because you have never tried it before?

I'm the kind of player who is unworldly in the matters of warfare and who prefers to stick around in the furthest corners of the map away from all the kaisers and sultans and basileis with my divine marriages and genius kids, which gets boring pretty quickly. Recently I decided to play in Europe for the first time, because HRE always seemed too intimidating even to my far-away island rulers. Hearing many good things about Matilda on this sub, I went out of my way to marry her as Philippe Capet. She ended up married to someone else before Philippe came of age, so I doubled down on the intrigue lifestyle, seduced the duchess, got her pregnant, murdered the husband and married Matilda just in time for the baby to be born.

She gave me nine children in total. Big family, great relationships, always there for each other, no kin-slaying inside schemes for once.

Having a powerful, reliable ally always at my side, I didn't feel afraid of dipping my foot into the grey of HRE's territories. We consistently helped each other in our wars; she went independent from HRE and kept helping me shaving off bits and pieces of it, I was making sure she was expanding in Italy. She helped me overcome my fear of facing bigger enemies, became my soulmate, kept sending me her smallcloths even when we were both way past our 50s. Neither of us cheated.

She passed away from bubonic plague and it broke my heart. Philippe never married after her death.

My favourite power couple, and overall great, cozy and wholesome playthrough.
