Potential Map Expansion That Gets Overlooked Posted: 13 Jul 2021 07:00 AM PDT While it is pretty clear that there will be a map expansion east to include China and probably Indochina. I think that eventually they should also do a map expansion South to include Indonesia and more of Africa. In the past I have seen people make ignorant at best comments along the lines of "Africa has nothing". Thanks to travelling around the continent and also living in Ethiopia for a few years I read a stupid amount of African history, and while it is not a China I feel like the diversity of the Kingdoms that did exist are more interesting than say the dozens of Central Asian States. South of the Map in West Africa you have the Kingdom of Mpemba Kasi which latter becomes the Kingdom of Kongo in the 1300s. One cool thing about Kongo is that the heir to the king is the King's Sister's Son. In South Central Africa you have the Hutu and Tutsi Kingdoms. In East Africa you have the Swahili on the Swahili Coast and the important cities like Mombasa. You also have Zanzibar an Arab trading island. Further South you have the Comoros Islands and latter Madagascar also involved in the Indian Ocean trade which is inhabited by people who originally came from South East Asia. Further South in the Interior we also have Great Zimbabwe. So far these were Feudal groups, if we included tribal groups there would be a limitless amount of cultures we could include. One thing that I was thinking about were the Oromo of Southern Ethiopia and Northern Kenya. They are a nomadic group that in traditional history are portrayed as a Mongol like force that invaded Abyssinia and Adal in the 1500s, one cool thing about the Oromo is their Gada political system where rulers are in power for 8 years and the whole society is stratified in 8 year age brackets that dictate what kind of work you do. This was just a quick survey and I am sure I missed a ton of potential realms. [link] [comments] | ||
