I put some thought into my Hindu/Asatru religion in my Indian viking game and I thought I'd share my results. I'm very happy with it, I usually just pick whatever is optimal when creating a religion.

Let my ruler participate in battles dangit!

    Posted: 06 Apr 2021 08:15 AM PDT

This is something I've been thinking about a lot, especially now with the Viking flavor pack, and the increased opportunities for prowess gain it brings.

I want my ruler to lead his troops AND fight in the battle. I can be wounded in battle, so why cant I fight? It sucks to have 46 prowess and be relegated to only use it in meaningless duels.

My berserker varangian blademaster viking Jarl should be at the head of a wedge of his bodyguards, crashing into the battle where he's needed most and tearing the heart out of the enemy commander to break the spirit of his men.

The way it is now, it's a mad scramble to get one's heir as many martial traits as possible before you die, because most of them are impossible to get once they become ruler. First you gotta send them to be a varagian which takes years, then when they get home you need to throw them into as many battles as possible in hopes that they acquire the blademaster trait, and maybe some commander traits while they're at it.
