Crusader Kings 3 Dev Diary #51 - It’s Time to Duel

So I'm working on a Late Roman Empire mod, went in-game to check on my Constantinian dynasty, and this was the auto-generated motto.

Just before conquering the whole of Ireland for the first time, England turned Muslim and invaded me... Is this how it feels to play CK?

Wording of "It's not a cult" (CK3 Achievement)

    Posted: 09 Mar 2021 08:20 AM PST

So that's one of the few achievements I still lack and I was wondering if reforming a faith counts as creating one for the achievement?

    Marriage changes

    Posted: 09 Mar 2021 12:15 PM PST

-Remove the Maximum number of wives (some rulers historically had more then 4 wives) for polygamous religions.

-reduce male fertility based on the number of wives he has (he will have more children on average, but impregnate each wife less). penalty is additive, but diminishing (example: 5 wives -5% fertility, 6 wives -7.5% fertility. numbers not actual suggestion just demonstration). as you get more and more, the additional fertility penalty will eventually trend to 0. The purpose of this fertility reduction is to prevent astronomical numbers of children

-add prestige cost to marry women when already married to 4 women, increasing with each additional one. this way only big boy rulers can have many wives. alternatively, make it so only king and emperors have an unlimited number of wives, while everyone else is limited to the usual 4

-add gold upkeep cost for having children/wives to represent food and other things. again making it so marrying tons and tons of women is restricted to the wealthy.

-if you marry a metric ton of women, then start receiving a diplomacy stat penalty for each additional wive, since you have to spend more time with them. if you run to 0 diplomacy from it, it will start lowering other stats

    additional marriage doctrines:

-Levirate marriage: when a male dies, his brother 'has' to marry his dead brother's wives (he can get an event where he can pay piety to refuse, maybe also money). alternatively, make it so the primary male heir has to marry them (though not causing incestuous marriages)

-fraternal polyandry: multiple brothers marry same wife, mother has to guess who the child's father is based on who she had sex with (or maybe add a way so a child can be treated as if it had multiple fathers?). Nephews of your brothers who share your wife inherit on equal footing with your kids. *

    concubinage changes:

-Remove limit on number of concubines, having instead a gold upkeep for each concubine that increases a bit with each concubine (so 1 concubine cost say 0.05 gold, 2 costs 0.11, etc. numbers just for show not actual suggested numbers). this way you have to pay to have extra kids.

-If you go negative gold for too long, you will be forced to abandon concubines and not take any additional

-Add the ability to have 'non character' concubines so numbers of concubines can be represented without too many useless characters (we dont want to represent 800 concubines for the king of the kievan rus, now do we?). only available with no legitimization or legitimization doctrines. if legitimization doctrine, has decision to legitimize an 'non character' son of a concubine, making them a character. to get 'non character' concubines, you can spend gold through decision (either increasing in cost when you have a lot or eventually getting disabled), or get them through raiding/sieging. character concubines will therefore represent concubines from royal families, or otherwise favored concubines.

additional suggestions are welcome, or if you can think of a more elegant way to stop players/ai from marring a hundred women and having 200 sons (without just saying 'you are limited to x number of wives')

*people might wonder why any player would want this doctrine in a religion they make. it essentially allows partition without splitting the family line, since titles that go to your brother remerge with your future heir.

    Siblings Rivalry achievement problem

I managed to form Spain Empire with Sancho's son but the achievement won't unlock. Do I have to do it with the siblings only?
