I'm disappointed it wasn't in the game at launch. I really hope they do figure out how to make it a little more interesting than was in CK2. This game is heroin, otherwise.

Why do culture-specific succession laws depend on the leader culture?

    Posted: 14 Dec 2020 08:44 AM PST

So I was playing Scotland and having a pretty good run. And I have to say, I just love Tanistry. It allowed me to stay tribal for a lot longer than I ever would with Gavelkind, and it's just fun trying to get the awesome people I nurture to rule, while my vassals vote for some goofy ones sometimes.

However, at one point I accidentally got a norse female ruler that was not married matrilineally, and suddenly I had no heir of my dynasty because the heritance law went to Gavelkind. Luckily, I was already gone Feudal and managed to save the situation with Seniority, which gave me a celtic leader of my own dynasty. And amazingly enough, that 69 year old gramps managed to stay alive for another 12 years and go back to Tanistry.

But why does the kingdom care that much what culture its ruler is? If Scotland elects a king or queen of another culture, why would it automatically just be decided that we can't continue with the same succession law? Of course it would make sense that a foreigner can't change it into Tanistry, but to automatically change out seems weird to me.

    Hungarian Men-at-Arms

So for some reason as Almos Arpad and Promoting Christian Settlements as per the decision to become Hungarian, I have access to Horse Archers AND Konni?

I'm relatively sure that's not intentional.

    Maybe.
