Crusader Kings III has sold over 1 million units. Congratulations to the team!

    https://www.paradoxinteractive.com/en/interim-report-january-september-2020/

Per the Interim report January – September 2020:

The third quarter of the year has for us to a large extent been about the launch of Crusader Kings III. Crusader Kings III is the third edition of our successful Grand Strategy franchise based on a player's personal journey through the Middle Ages. When the review embargo was released shortly before launch, the game received an aggregate score of 91/100 on Metacritic, which is a collected rating of industry and gaming media reviews. It is our highest rating ever on Metacritic and it is, of course, extremely positive, but what makes me happiest of all is that the game was received with remarkable enthusiasm by our players. Over 19,000 reviews on Steam and over 1,000,000 units sold paints a clear picture: We have created a really good game!

The successful launch of Crusader Kings III is another proof of the value in owning and methodically developing our franchises. Crusader Kings III is, like most of our successful games, the result of several iterations of the game. Often the first game in a franchise is not a success, but instead lays the foundation for future sequels by building a player base, a brand, and the knowledge to gradually develop better games.

Congratulations to the team! Can't wait to see what they have in store for us.

The most realistic part of CK3...

It is basically impossible to lose weight. No matter how many feasts I decline or hunts I undertake, my fat ass won't get any smaller. Instead of devouring delicious cakes, I have to eat the stress gain from the losing weight decision, all in a futile effort to live up to my Herculean congenital trait.

Seriously, I have yet to escape the death-grip of obesity once in what must be at least a dozen attempts.

Why is there no CK2-style notification manager in CK3?

    Posted: 16 Nov 2020 11:24 PM PST

Back in CK2 you could have billion different options as to what notifications you want to see and where. Now you have to see a pop-up everytime random shmuck joins your court, but you don't have a pop-up when you can create new title? smh
I literally can't came up with any reason as to why this part of the game regressed

The Most Interesting Game I Ever Had - Duchy of Nitra -> Kingdom of Jerusalem -> Roman Empire -> Empire of Slavia

    Posted: 17 Nov 2020 10:15 AM PST

The Most Interesting Game I Ever Had - Duchy of Nitra -> Kingdom of Jerusalem -> Roman Empire -> Empire of Slavia

So I started as a duke Svatopluk of Nitra and was trying to play tall.

Once crusades started my dying uncle got Kingdom of Jerusalem that I inherited after few months after the crusade.

For roleplay reasons I moved my capital to Jerusalem and then immediately lost my Kingdom of Hungary because of no naval path.

I didn't really care because at that time I was spreading Slavic culture through the middle-east (at the end of the game whole of middle east was Slavic - one way how to bring the peace to middle east)

After conquering whole of middle-east and Egypt I decided to create a new faith, which basically allowed everything. From concubines to witchcraft.

Because pope was pain in the ass (called 3 crusades on me) I decided to end the Great Schism. Byzantines were always in some kind of civil war and pope was the only catholic - everybody else was either Muslim or heretic, thus conquering Rome and Constantinople was walk in a park.

Also after ending the Great Schism I created divine bloodline and did that decision that genetically improves your dynasty.

After ending the Great Schism whole of Europe converted to my religion (except west Europe - they were Muslims). And maybe because my character was head of faith or idk why I got free subjugation cb on anybody that has my faith. So in one quick war i annexed the Byzantines and then after getting some minor territories in northern Africa and Italy I became Slavic Roman Empire.

At this point it was around 1300 and I got one per lifetime subjugation and holy war for kingdom cb. So in like 50 years I annexed Kingdoms of Bohemia, Hungary, Great Moravia, Pomerania, Mecklenburg and Lithuania and then united the West Slavs.

Repeated the whole process with Unite Slavs decision. This was easier as most of east slavic kingdoms were held by dude and Queen of Lithuania had claims on all of them. So after one quick war and then few minor wars for counties I was missing I united SLAVS!

After that I just produced border gore in Scandinavia and did conquered some de jure counties and duchies.

At the end I had an Empire stretching from Norway to Somalia and from Italy to Kazakhstan. And all of that was a result of trying to play tall Great Moravia.

    btw Hispania is Muslim

Need help getting back the head of faith title.

    Posted: 17 Nov 2020 09:25 AM PST

    Hello!

So my previous ruler, aka my father, reformed the old Asatru to the new Asatru. The only real change I did was to make a head of faith, so I could declare holy wars and try out all that stuff.

However, when my ruler who reformed the faith, and was the head of faith at the time died, some other guy outside of my family got the title, and not my heir.

I set the faith to be Temporal Head of Faith, and as I understood it, the title was supposed to go in my family, but apparently it didn't.

Is there any way I can get it back, and how do I prevent this in the future?

If Im bad at explaining the situation, just ask for more details, thanks!

The time for me slows down massively if I play as a kingdom and especially empire.

    Posted: 17 Nov 2020 10:59 AM PST

Is this normal? If it isn't is there a way to fix this? I need to make my cult empire without having to wait each day in real time.

Finally did it.. Mother of Us All

Finished by year 1198... Although it could have been sooner if:

Changed capital to Manding duchy in kingdom of Mali earlier... the gold mines are a CRAZY source of money.

If the Byzantine empire didn't conquer single counties all around northern Africa... fighting that blob wastes a ton of gold

Winning moves: Sometime in year 950~1100 I stopped conquering to improve main duchy which was tribal at start and built all baronies in Manding duchy. In the year 1146~, a major revolt for the throne broke and I had to surrender but kept the duchy which provided as much army and gold as the usurper Empress had. so i reclaimed the Empire easily

Reformed as temporal head of faith so that I get to own temples. easy source of gold when at peace.

Got rid of confederate partition as soon as I turned feudal. Makes domain loss much more bearable on succession.

Get Learning or diplomacy eduction. also got got stewardship to improve counties.

Keeping stash of gold on succession to send "gifts" after succession and keep strong allies happy.

Gave all titles to family members so that I can reclaim if I want and also to spread culture and faith.

Married close relatives to rebellious vassals so that they can't join factions.

OVERALL so much fun, would do again
