How to deal with the Abbasids?

    Posted: 28 Apr 2020 12:02 PM PDT

Right now playing as Duke of Antioch in 822 and I really badly want to take Damascus from the abbasids, only problem is all the revolts almost stopped and the 7 year old Caliph has 18k men waiting to destroy me, and I only have about 2.6k men (would have more but a new character succeeded to the throne) so is there any way I could make it so either the abbasids explodes or have more revolts. The Abbasids in this game are a bit too OP

List of characters my strong, groomed, attractive genius character seduced:

    • a nun
    • a countess
    • two duchesses
    • a princess
    • my sister
    • a hunchbacked, uncouth duchess with a harelip

List of characters my strong, groomed, attractive, genius character loved and left:

    • a nun
    • a countess
    • two duchesses
    • a princess

List of characters my strong, groomed, attractive, genius character stayed and let his love grow with:

    • my sister
    • the hunchbacked, uncouth duchess with a harelip

My character has some very weird tastes in women

Non-primary empire not following my laws

    Posted: 28 Apr 2020 12:19 PM PDT

I have two empires, Empire of Suomi and Empire of Volga-Ural. The Empire of Suomi is my primary title and I've made so that only external wars are allowed in the Empire. Yet, wars are being fought in my country. I think it might be because the fighters (at least the initiator) is from Volga-Ural, of which I don't know the laws in place for exactly this. If this is the case, I have three questions:

    1. Will The Empire of Volga-Ural drift into my de jure empire? I have a feeling it cannot as it is an equal title. So, if it cannot drift into my de jure empire, can the Kingdoms of which it is compromised of drift into my de jure empire?
    2. Who are in charge of the laws in place in Volga-Ural? I am the holder of the title, but I cannot do anything with the laws as it isn't my primary title. So, are there no-one voting for the laws in that empire?
    3. What is the best strategy of fixing this problem? Destroying the title so that all of the land goes under the Suomi Empire and therefore becomes subject to those laws? Or could I make Volga-Ural my primary title, and then go through the voting hell again to make those laws the same as those in Suomi? If I were to do this, what would happen with the Empire of Suomi? Would the laws in that Empire be able to be changed whilst "I'd be gone"?

So this kid, while doing nothing at 14, got a bloodline out of nowhere but was claimed to have raided the Franks and Anglo-Saxons.

Is giving land to dynasty members actually a good strategy?

    Posted: 28 Apr 2020 06:51 AM PDT

I have always tried to have all of my realm belong to someone in my dynasty. Dynastic triumph being the goal of the game (at least according to some), and that in addition to having your vassals have a "same dynasty" opinion buff, makes it seem like a good idea to do this. But in my current play-through, I've create a gargantuan empire, and as such, my vassals are quite powerful too. Some of those vassals are members of my dynasty, and they're always the ones causing the most trouble, as they all have more of a legitimate claim to the throne.

A commenter on this post was the one that made me ask this question to myself. They wrote:

"If you give lands to your family members in order to help your dynasty out, you are a fool waiting for an uprising."

    So, what are your opinions?
