Looking for people to help with large mod project- a 15th century mod: "Beginning of the End"

    Beginning of the End

As CK2's lifecycle draws to an end, I though it would be cool to make a final big mod as a swansong for this incredible game, as well as providing extra content for people who won't be picking up CK3 at launch (myself included). The 15th century was such an interesting period of history, but the game cuts off half way through, so it would be a perfect opportunity to explore this century before people begin to leave this game behind, perhaps forever.

    The Specifics of the mod

The mod adds in a start date for 1400.1.1 (and the end date moved to 1600.1.1). This is where the majority of the work will be with this mod. As anyone who has done history modding knows, this requires creating characters to hold every single county in the game. It's no small task, but it is definitely possible.

On top of that, there will also be events and decisions for different kingdoms and parts of the map. The Italian Renaissance is probably the biggest event in 15th-century Europe, and I'm excited to see how we can translate this to CK2.

    Proof of concept

As a proof of concept, I have already done the initial history modding for Scotland, England, Wales and Ireland, as well as adding some unique flavour.

History has only been added for Scotland, England, Wales and Ireland so far

As you can see, the first interesting characrer is Owain Glyndŵr, who was the last Welsh Prince of Wales and led the final attempt at gaining independence for Wales. The first in-game year tells the story of the last events leading up to his rebellion. In real life, his rebellion was (sadly) defeated, but CK2 lets us live out all of our wildest ahistorical fantasies. His uprising was actually my main inspiration for making this mod, especially with the "Tripartite Indenture", which was his plan to carve up England into three pieces, with the west being added to the Welsh Principality, the North going to the Percy family, and the South to the Mortimer family. And yes, this is already possible in this mod. I am tempted to post a screenshot of it in action... but I don't want to spoil everything!

    Direct Vassal Map

What will the modding process look like?

First of all, we will have to tackle history modding. It's a long and drawn-out process. This will require dedication and a lot of time, but if there are enough of us that we only need to do one or two kingdoms each, it won't take too long. Obviously it's preferrable if you have experience of history modding, but if you're already familiar with modding CK2, it's not hard to pick up.

Once we have completed that, we will be able to move on to the more fun part! Adding unique events and decisions will make the map come alive. Here are just a few points of interest which could be addressed by this mod:

    - The Renaissance

    - Glyndŵr's uprising and the Gaelic Resurgence in Ireland

    - The Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth

    - The remains of the Byzantine Empire and a possible regurgence

    - The Protestant Reformation

    How can I join?

Send me a message and I'll send you a link to the discord. I'll go through the more specific stuff there.

Can I help if I don't have modding experience?

Sure! Firstly, it would be great to have an artist on the team, since unique art will greatly improve the mod (e.g. we would be able to have a "major" bookmark on the era selection screen which would replace the 1337 one).

If you want to help with the history modding, I can write a simple guide which you can follow easily to add in some basic title and character history.
