Why is ck2 so addictive and yet so cruel

    Posted: 24 Nov 2019 07:53 AM PST

So I am playing ck2 as usual (by that I mean trying to form Yugoslavia in 1066) and everything is going well. But then suddenly my character dies. My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined. It is gavelkind again that is doing all this trickery to me. It certainly does not help that my focus every time is seduction. So what is the best succession law?

I usually go for primogeniture but legalism is most of times not yet that developed for me to switch.

I am doing the Llywelyn Monarchs Journey and I want to marry my mother matrilineally to get another kingdom. Is 45 to old for having a kid?

[Help] How can I declare independence from a Merchant Republic Liege?

    Posted: 24 Nov 2019 07:51 AM PST

    Hi :)

I decided to start a playthrough as the count of Naples. At one point the Byzantine Emperor transferred me under the vassalage of the Amalfian Republic and not long after they declared independence, taking me along for the ride.

Since the Amalfian titular title is ducal level I cannot create any duchies as it would be of equal rank to that of my liege. As such I'd like to break free and go my own way. However I can't find any way to do this. There is no faction that I can form, nor can I declare war on my liege for independence (it says I have no valid casus belli). Am I missing something? How can I get out of this annoying situation?

Thanks to all on this sub who have helped me form Eire, but one last question for now.

Thanks to all on this sub who have helped me form Eire, but one last question for now.

How do I annex these leftover kingdoms without having to wait an eternity to justify a war goal to take only one county and then waiting an eternity again to take an extra county and again and again until I have taken every country one by one? Also, I started in the Iron Century start date.

Here is a screenshot of my game in case it will help.
