Why can't I make the Pope unlanded? Even though I have claims on his only province he becomes my vassal, I don't get the title directly.

    Death Bed Succession

    Posted: 24 Sep 2021 08:36 AM PDT

I think something like this has been missing as it definitely happened historically.

Think of it being like Know Thyself in the Learning Tree but maybe under Diplomacy or Stewardship.

Like Know Thyself, it would fire a year or so before you are going to die of natural causes. The whole idea would be to secure the succession for your heir so that they don't necessarily have to spend the first part of their reign fighting off rebellions.

You could offer land, gold or changes to feudal contracts to pacify claimants or powerful vassals and try and secure their loyalty (maybe set-up like a temporary faction ban) to your heir. And maybe you occasionally get screwed by deceitful or vengeful characters for some flair.

What is your favorite dynastic legacy or the one you choose first most games?

    Posted: 24 Sep 2021 10:31 AM PDT

I personally like to pick a different starting legacy depending on who I am starting as, but I am sure we all have those perks we like better than others
