Official Mistress perk idea

I love that there are actually consequences for sleeping around (especially finding out what your naughty vassals are getting up to) but it's a little unrealistic that everyone gets mad at you for being an adulterer if you're a high noble. Obviously it varies by region and religion, but mistresses were very common among the nobility, and even granted lands and titles. Sometimes they would be a testament to a noble's virility and even increase his prestige. Sometimes there was an official position- the maitresse en titre, or official mistress. But nobles resented powerful mistresses! This is only Catholic countries at this point because different areas have different laws.

I propose the ability to install one official mistress- but you have to earn it to create the position. I could see it being a perk unlocked on the Family Hierarch or Seducer lifestyle route. Or alternately you need to get into 'long reign' territory and you would have to pay for it with piety and/or prestige (the logic being that if you have high enough prestige others will think you're entitled to this perk rather than just a philanderer, and piety for obvious reasons.) I'm not sure how this would work for female rulers as rules were a lot more strict, and while they did have 'favorites' they didn't openly flout sleeping with them. I like the idea of court 'favorites,' platonic or not, but that's another topic.

some ideas about how it works:

The relationship is public so it can't be used as hook. You do not gain the adulterer or fornicator trait (yes you are committing adultery but it would complicate the factors discussed below as it's a nuanced topic.)
Only unmarried woman will accept the position, and only lowborn women or women several ranks down on the renown scale will accept the position easily. There is a huge negative acceptance mod for Chaste and Zealous women, or women of higher rank. There is a boost if a woman is your lover, and a huge boost if a woman is your soulmate, which will allow you to take a noble mistress. (as most women are married this may involve killing a husband!). If you are chaste, you will gain stress from taking on a mistress, and if you are lustful, you will lose stress.
There is a negative spouse opinion for having an official mistress, but not the larger unfaithful modifier. Your children are still illegitimate but there is no negative spouse or child opinion for having them unless you legitimize them. If you manage to get a woman with a claim as a mistress, the children can inherit her claims.
Only church characters, and zealous or chaste characters have a negative opinion for having a mistress. There is a positive mod for lustful characters (those pervs are into you and your harem.) Your own children may dislike it as well. There is a piety penalty.
Your mistress can step in on the council in the spouse role, but only if you are unmarried or your wife is away ruling another realm or incapable. This will lead to a negative opinion penalty because vassals didn't like mistresses becoming too powerful.
This position does not provide any alliances.
You can replace your mistress at any time, but she will be angry.
Historically mistresses were planted or used to influence rulers, and to gain their favor. So rulers may offer each other mistresses if the office is empty, probably with appealing traits like beautiful. You will get an opinion bonus, or possibly even a hook, for giving another ruler a mistress, more if she has a beauty trait. She will be also be more willing to participate in schemes against your target in her new court. But you need to make sure your own mistress likes you as she's in a prime position to plot against you. If there's a plot against the ruler and the mistress is involved, there may be a heartbreaking event where she kills you in bed! There should be mistress specific events, and perhaps mistresses can be involved in positive sway schemes.
A gay man can have a female official mistress. It should make it harder to discover if you are a sodomite. In some periods, a mistress was a sign of virility, so this 'beard' is actually historically accurate.
If you do life in a culture where women can get titles and give one to your mistress you will get a temporary negative opinion modifier for it. The greater the title, the more negative the opinion.
