    Grandfather would be proud

As a 50 hours newbie to this game, I finally did this! It might not seems impressive yet it is very meaningful to me!

Paradox has gotta do something about death anouncements. I Conquered the Levant, Jerusalem, Egypt, and Rome and mended the Great Schism. But I was famous for my feasts and balls because I accepted a couple vassals' invitations to dinner...

    Please change the alliance-marriage system

    Posted: 05 Feb 2021 08:12 AM PST

Its really annoying that i have to lose prestige for not answering the call of some insignificant count because i didn't want my daughter to marry a peasant. I understand that marriages in the middle ages were one of the main factors to seal an alliance but its ridiculous to think that every marriage will just result in a alliance, the French and English royalty have married each other for centuries but they were also constantly at war against each other.

A way better system would be for marriages to just result in non-aggression pacts (like in CK2) which could be broken by great loss of prestige, the pact could then be negotiated into a full alliance if both parties interests collide, so we can finally have royals marry each other without them being allies necessarily.

I was able to conquer enough land as the Pope’s vassal that he was able to form the “Imperial Church of Italia”

Imagine How Great The Imperator Military System Would Work In CK3

    Posted: 05 Feb 2021 11:03 AM PST

Imperator was a lot of things, a test for ck3 techs, a unique idea, rushed, and pretty unique all things considered and it introduced a mechanic I loved so much and was so dissapointed to see it taken out.

In Imperator armies are assigned a general, the general leads them and providing his bonuses while putting his own life at risk. The army gradually gains loyalty to this general meaning they become more or less the property of that general at your expense (you cant even just disband them), if your commander becomes disloyal he can take control of the army to do as he pleases (say dropping a siege to attack a fort closer to his land) and will take loyal troops with him if he rebels. This was a great feature that required character management... but this aspect of imperator was lacking

But look at CK3, the game is 90% character management and court intrigue. Wouldnt it be amazing to if the generals you leave in charge armies would be able to use these armies when bartering if loyal enough. If conniving enough they could just ignore orders and do what they feel would help them most in a war. Maybe you put all the armies you have under the control of your brother who just so happens to be plotting your downfall and instead of letting you dissolve the armies at the end of the war declares war for the throne. It would an entire layer to the strategy of warfare and naturally discourage doomstacks (as only you or super loyal generals could lead them who are less likely to also be your best general).

It wouldnt be a 1:1 translation between games so heres the way I see it working

Men At Arms units are assigned to your marshall when purchased, they can be reassigned to any avaliable commander including yourself.

Levies are assigned to their title-owner or his appointed marshall upon spawn (the title-owners choice, barons always lead because i dont believe they have fleshed out courts). You can request/demand a certain character be appointed marshall in a vassal realm, according to laws refusing may be a crime

The top tier lord can request/demand any other commander (including himself) be given control of armies instead, depending on laws or contracts or religion or government it may be a crime to refuse and/or a prestige hit to agree

The loyalties of levy units (to top title or their direct liege) on spawn is based on control of a province, religion, events affecting the province, happiness, liege traits, etc

Armies arent merged, instead they are "stacked", they gain the traits of the general on the top of the stack but still remain assigned to their rightful commander.

Currently loyal armies are added to a characters army count (and are considered for things such as rebelling)

Loyal levies cannot be disbanded by anyone but the commander, the title-owner of the armies becomes upset with the general they are loyal too instead of the liege, only getting a moderate negative opinion to the liege for letting it happen.

Overlord and title owner can request/demand loyal levies be disbanded, depending on laws, etc it may be a crime to refuse.

Commanders with more than half the army loyal can ignore orders to pursue their own interests in a war.

The byzantines would have a special government type that empowers marshalls/commanders with the levies even more, as well as giving army power weight in voting.

This would change it so a liege dont magically control every levy owed to him in his realm, he now must actually take part in diplomacy with his vassals to not just manage his army but to keep the peace between vassals. Doomstacks are no longer an easy win scenario as it may just be handing power over to a commander who wasnt quite as loyal as you hoped. Now your core lands and men at arms are even more important than they were before providing the only military you know belongs to you. Think of this like the addition of councils in ck2 lol

It took me about 126 in-game years for this playthrough, and 195.5 hours total gametime, but I finally created my first empire, complete with custom religion!

Thought I'd share my Empire of Tibet. Note to self: Never play Taoist again.

Suggestion: Turkic cultures should have an adopt western traditions decision when settling in Europe

    Posted: 05 Feb 2021 10:07 AM PST

    Hi all,

So, I was playing as Pechenegs in Wallachia and turned every Vlach county to Pechenegs and converted to Orthodoxy. I noticed later that the Turkic attire doesn't fit the situation where I'm in as Pechenegs were wearing Turkic attire and haircuts I think that Turkic cultures settling in a European lands should have a decision to adopt western or European traditions where they wear European attires and haircuts. The conditions for having such decision is that the culture must be 80-90% presented in Europe and maybe follow a Christian religion.

What are the requirements to fabricate a claim on a duchy?

    Posted: 05 Feb 2021 08:16 AM PST

Is there anything special I need to get a claim on a duchy instead of just a county. I know that it is affected by my bishops skill level but it never seems to happen. Does faith matter? Can I not control any of the duchies counties? I'm trying to conquer England and going county by county seems really slow.

    Question for any mac gamers...

    Posted: 05 Feb 2021 02:13 PM PST

I apologize for any re-post. I tried searching but couldn't find anything recent/relevant. Wasn't sure if anyone had similar specs and had some success.

I have access to a iMac for next couple months and this game has been on my radar. Once I saw the min requirements a tear came to my eye. I realize the ram is below requirements, but figured I'd ask before trying to even download via Steam for a test run.

    iMac (21.5-inch, Late 2015)

    2.8 GHz Intel Core i5

    8 GB 1867 MHz DDR3

Intel Iris Pro Graphics 6200 1536 MB
