Which bookmark is the most stable/historically accurate?

I'm really annoyed that whenever I try and do a 769 or 867 start game the map just shatters into 86million different realms and the game just goes to hell as a result.

I've found that the High Middle Ages 1066 bookmark is typically the best so long as William becomes king of England and the Byzantines lose to the Seljuks.

Are there any other bookmarks you would recommend for stability/historical accuracy? So long as the map doesn't shatter into a ridiculous amount of realms, I'm happy.
