Reading about tenets, and Syncretism seems a lot more useful than I thought it might be. Posted: 29 Aug 2020 11:18 AM PDT For the Abrahamic faiths, going Syncretist pretty much just makes you go from Evil to Hostile, which... isn't majorly useful if you hear it in isolation. However, I was reading on the Paradox forums, and here's a useful tidbit- Religious Attitude Fundementalist: Adherents of other Faiths will have opinion Penalties of 200% County Conversion Speed: +20% Counties of other Faiths are more likely to join Factions Increased danger from heresies when at low Fervor Can revoke landed titles from Hostile and Evil Infidels without Incurring tyranny. Rightious: Adherents of other faiths will have opinion penalties of 100% Can revoke landed titles from evil Infidels without incurring tyranny. Pluralist: Adherents of other Faiths will have opinion penalties of 50% County Conversion speed -20% Counties of other Faiths are less likely to join Factions Reduced danger from heresies when at low fervor Winning a Holy War will vassalize infidel rulers instead of seizing their land. So basically, if- say- you reform a Pagan faith but the Righteous Abbasids are blobbing and you have no decent means of defeating them, then taking the relevant Syncretism grants you immunity to having your titles revoked. Which means rather than being effectively doomed as long as external factors don't provide a refuge, in an emergency you can try swearing fealty and only have to deal with the fact people don't like you very much! This opens up shenanigans like casually strolling into the HRE as a reformed Asatru pagan going 'look i believe in god the father, god the son and god the holy spirit, it's just that specifically i believe that the holy spirit is a trickster spirit who came to earth, got impregnated by a horse and gave birth to god's loyal extensively-legged steed he will ride into battle in the end times against the great serpent satan'. It's also a great emergency option for players who can see a foe looming on the horizon but who are too inexperienced or unlucky to stand against them; make sure they're not Fundamentalist, take in their beliefs before they arrive, and hey presto you just have to make sure they don't Holy War you first! A lot of the promo videos go for carnal exaltation and human sacrifice, but I think I'm going to have a lot of fun with syncretism first. ...Though being able to syncretise your way into cannibalising and sacrificing in the middle of the HRE without any religious revocation reason does also sound appealing, I have to admit. Where in West Europe is most fun to play? Posted: 29 Aug 2020 01:23 AM PDT In a previous poll, 64% of people said in CK3 they plan to play in Western Europe first. So, even if west Europe won't be your first playthrough, lets find out where in west Europe people think is most fun. I've separated the regions by de-jure empires in CK2 to avoid confusion.
