Why so many fingers of Saint John?

    Posted: 16 Jul 2020 07:57 AM PDT

I counted in a game of ck2 how many fingers of Saint John there were, because they kept popping up.

There were 24 fingers, I have checked and Saint John only had 10 fingers in real life.

Never choose a shy commander. Combat tactics not only grant affinity bonuses against enemy tactic groups, but also against commander traits.

    Posted: 16 Jul 2020 08:23 AM PDT

There are a number of changes to the combat system that were not mentioned in the patch notes and, of course, cannot be found in the wiki. For example, you can use the narrow flank with more troops than the enemy even on flat terrain, which gives this specialty of the combat system a new meaning. I also noticed changes in combat tactics, a shy commander could choose the hesitant commander combat tactic, so you were punished enough if you gave responsibility to a failure.
    But that's not all.

Enemy combat tactics receive a 400% affinty bonus against shy commanders. I was a bit amazed to see how one of my strong flanks was completely disassembled in skirmish phase within two days. In melee combat, affinity bonuses sometimes force you/enemy to flee against appropriate groups of combat tactics in a split second. It's often difficult to see exactly what's going on in battle, these buffs have been increased from 300% to 400% for many tactics. What was completely new to me, however, that there are also brutal affinity bonuses against the character traits of the enemy commanders. So far, this has actually been expressed through special combat tactics and massive deductions on the unit values. When enemy troops do 4 times the damage, bad tactics from traits are the far less evil.

What are you most excited about with CK3

    Posted: 16 Jul 2020 10:44 AM PDT

I just spent a few hours digging into all the dev diaries and I AM PUMPED. September 1 can't come soon enough. Figured i'd start a thread.... what are you most excited about?

For me: I'm still most excited about the procedurally generated character models. I think that's going to add soo much to roleplaying.

So, um. The Papacy has taken over all of Northern Italy and what is now Switzerland...

    Posted: 16 Jul 2020 04:25 AM PDT

In my Finland game. I didn't know The Papacy could do this. Crusades haven't even started yet, it's only 1053.

    Dragons?

    Posted: 16 Jul 2020 05:30 AM PDT

I've seen with Holy Fur(r)y that you can make the world filled with various animals, including Dragons.

Is there a way to play a Dragon while no one else in the world is one? ie, I would like to start as a Dragon and try to take over the world. But I don't want there to be other dragons (other than my offspring.)

    Is this possible?
If so, when I marry a human will my offspring be dragon or human?

And what about my offspring's offspring? Will they continue to be Dragons or humans?

I don't intend a world conquest so much as trying to place my children on thrones, ending up with Dragons ruling over all the petty humans.

What pagans can join a crusade?

    Posted: 16 Jul 2020 09:15 AM PDT

Ok, so if the slavs control saxony in about the year 900, can i as a germanic ruler join when the crusade for saxony is called?

Edit: Just to clarify, i mean joining against the crusade. Not joining the crusade itself.

    Will this exist in CK3?

    Posted: 16 Jul 2020 10:21 AM PDT

After playing HOI for decades now, it surprises me that the concept of diplomatically arranged "military access" doesn't exist in CK2. It just doesn't seem right or true to the time period involved that one country can march its armies through the territory of other countries without permission at will with no consequences whatsoever.
