CK3 - We need to talk about start Starting Dates.

CK3 - We need to talk about start Starting Dates.

So, there has been some rumors about the starting dates that CK3 will make available.

Some say CK3 will have only the standard 1066 start. Others ponder Viking age 867 would also be available.

As a fan of the Charlemagne start date '769', it sounded odd until some rumour feedback from devs was ventilated recently:

1- Devs 'regret' the Charlemagne start day, citing dificulties to reflect real culture migration (and culture change I'd assume), as well as the Christian church schisms.

2- Citing unconfortable 'creativity liberties' on some rulers/counties due to lack of historical records.

3- Paradox rumour desire to have another game to cover Early Middle Ages.

Anyways, imo I love CK2 mechanics in Early Middle Ages as well. In the end it is a alternative history game and if a player, for exemple, desires to keep the Franks 'unlatinized', this is the alternative scnerio one would like to follow.

Btw, I would love to see an even Earlier Start Date. Aftermatch of the Fall of Western Roman Empire, as below. Some many possibilities to 'play' with.

Can anyone talk me through a nomad playthrough?

I did a few, halfhearted and limp-wristed ones a few years before, but quickly found myself going feudal on accident (oops!) and so never really mastered the art of the steppes. The only mechanic I really understood and could effectively utilize was making sure my heir ran his own mercenary outfit for awhile because it tended to give martial traits and mercenary traditions, but I haven't really gone back since then, so any synergy with Way of Life, Monks and Mystiques, Jade Dragon, etc. I have no clue about.

How do I maximize the growth of my throat-singing horde of land pirates? Can I feasibly control a long stretch of the Silk Road and reap the benefits? How do I settle my people someplace? Is there a better way of securing alliances and confederations with other steppe people or do I have to beat them all down and absorb them the hard way?

I ran a search but most of the related results were from four years ago, when HL was first released, or only contained a single slim reply.
