there's a player-facing chivalric courtship scheme in the game, as well as what Olbers calls "a (bad) poetry generator", and even a procedural sex scene generator. One can only imagine the horrors that will produce. - Rock Paper Shotgun

What do you folks think of this new stress mechanic?

"Stress is a new system that encourages you to roleplay," Fåhreus says. "In [Crusader Kings 2] you didn't have to care about your own personality traits. So the idea in CK3 is that when you act against your character's personality, which you're still free to do, you gain Stress. So there's no 'Stressed' trait; it's a percentage, essentially. When you go up a Stress level, some negative things happen, so you have a little mental break. When it reaches the max, you probably go insane or something like that... your character will have serious problems."

It's way too early to make any value judgments about any part of CK3, but just, conceptually, how do you feel about this?

It seems like a great change to me, though I understand why some might dislike it. A mechanical incentive to roleplay seems really smart, though it might turn some people off. It makes me think that CK3 might be along the lines of what I want it to be, a 50/50--or perhaps even 60/40--mix of roleplaying and strategy.

I mean jeez guys. I understand the anger to SOME degree, as Paradox really screwed up with Imperator...but I saw warning signs early on with Imperator. CK3 so far looks pretty good and genuinely looks like a much-needed modernization of the engine. Really excited about what they are doing with religion (which felt very vanilla in CK2). Why all the hate? I might just be naive or a fanboy, so help me out.
