Crusader Kings 3 - Being a *feared* ruler. Posted: 20 Oct 2019 01:58 AM PDT During the reveal, one thing that caught my attention is the possible distinction and playstyle between a respected by being beloved ruler - or, how it is in CK2, a liked ruler - vs one that is respected by being feared. Previously, being feared meant you were disliked. Being disliked meant you were a target for your subjects ire, intrigues and insubordonation, meaning you were not respected. The game made no distinction. I'd enjoy a mechanic of respect vs like-dislike, or rather a separate but interworking implementation of the two. One that would be closer to what people in power use to "get their way". They don't have to like you, just to do what you want/tell them to do. Thoughts? [link] [comments] | ||

Features that CKIII absolutely should have. Posted: 19 Oct 2019 09:14 PM PDT CKIII is a chance to add features that we simply couldn't get with dlc on ck2 due to hardcoding issues and the like. Features that will greatly improve immersion and historical accuracy: -More complex feudal relations. The most famous example: William the conqueror and his heirs who swore oath to france as dukes of Normandy, while still being independent as England. -Real time location of characters on the map. While this nominally exist in ck2, we all know it ain't realistic to make your ruler go from England to Jerusalem in 1 day and back to get the crusader trait. It would make for such a better experience having your rulers/commanders actually move with their army on the map, - and then having to return- while we get different contextual options and events on the move like Barbarossa drowning while crusading. This also should apply to pilgrimages and other events like feasts, seducing, and the like. -An actual simulation of the eastern and western Christianity schism, with different options and representation on earlier start dates. I hope CK3 gives honorary titles more weight and flavour Posted: 19 Oct 2019 06:58 PM PDT Honorary titles could be a great part of the realm's political side, but as it stands right now they're essentially just ways to give slight opinion boosts with a tiny salary. I've been reading about the Great Officers of State in Britain, the largely-ceremonial offices still appointed by the Crown, and there's such potential here because back in the Middle Ages they had real power and meaning and were exactly the sort of thing any ambitious noble would want, and it would be so much more interesting to actually have that instead of exactly the same pointless titles the whole of Europe uses.
