Posted: 14 Jun 2021 07:27 AM PDT What the title says! Personally, I still play CK2 (I had just bought all the expansions when CK3 was announced, so I still want to get some bang for my buck before switching over) and no matter where I start my playthrough, I'm always a bit obsessed with my dynasty prestige. I don't necessarily want to rule a huge empire myself, but I really want to put my relatives on thrones all over the world. Preferably, I like to do that via marriages and murder plots, instead of warfare. My ultimate goal, apart from having my dynasty prestige in the 10,000s, would be having an independent realm surrounded by other independent realms, all ruled by my relatives. Too bad that the AI is not great about keeping the relatives in power once I've secured their thrones, though! I leave cousin Edgar to rule his new kingdom, and when I check out how he's doing after a while, he's usually been overthrown. But oh well – I guess it wouldn't be interesting if it was too easy... And in any case, I have a feeling I'll be all obsessed with the renown & dynasty legacies mechanic once I move over to CK3! So what kind of goals do you guys like to set for yourselves? Do you find yourself reaching for the same goals playthrough after playthrough, or do you keep coming up with new ones? And how do you feel about reaching them – are there for example some goals you're glad you reached once, but wouldn't necessarily like to attempt again? [link] [comments] | ||

Many of the doctrines in CK3 for faiths make absolutely no sense and are historically innacurate. Posted: 13 Jun 2021 06:17 PM PDT For instance the Asatru views witchcraft in the game as criminalized offense even though magic and the like was very important to the Norse faith. The faith also criminalizes homosexuality when there are no references to homosexuality being criminalized anyway in the Scandinavian norse faith. The evidence of the sagas and laws shows that male homosexuality wasn't regarded as shameful if you took the active role. So a shunned or accepted trait would make much more sense. Yet many of the Abrahamic religions only have the doctrine of homosexuality being shunned even though most of them actively had the death penalty for sodomy at the time. I see no purpose for this decision whatsoever and honestly can't think of why paradox would have done this. The slavic pagan faith has the Fundamentalist doctrine even though the games own description describes it as a "blanket term for the myriad native faiths of much of Central and Eastern Europe" which suits the pluralistic doctrine much better. Some Slavic pagans have also been recorded in historical sources as having multiples wives so the decision to make them monogamous doesn't make sense either. The Tengri faith has witchcraft as a punishable criminal offense when shamanism and magic in the faith was a central tenet and an active part of the religion. I question a lot of the faith doctrines in this game and why paradox made some of them very historically innacurate even ones that should be obvious like homosexuality being only shunned in many Abrahamic faiths when it was a death penalty offense for many and witchcraft being criminalized in many pagan faiths even though many of them viewed magic highly and witches favorably. Many of these decisions for the doctrines don't make sense from both a historical or even gameplay perspective and I question why paradox made the decisions to make the doctrines what they did.
