How to stop my son from being a satanist?

    Posted: 18 Jul 2020 08:53 AM PDT

Hey right now I play as a catholic Emperor, and my only son and an heir is in Lucifer's Own.

I don't want him to get bunch of bad traits, cause I need a good opinion from vassals of my realm when he inherits, also don't wanna him to get magically corrupted.

So how do I disallow him from being lucifer's own? Can I spy on him or something?

A DLC Idea: Eldritch Invasion [Long]

    Posted: 18 Jul 2020 05:54 AM PDT

    1. Main Idea and "Storyline"

The effects of the DLC start around the year 950 (can be customised in the game parameter). There will be an event claiming that people all over the country have been having terrible nightmares lately (this has a 1% chance of making you or any other character in the world insane). At the same time, anomalous things will happen, this includes blood rain, the apperance of weird dog-like creatures (Shoggoths) and foul, disgusting clouds of fish odor roaming through cities and countrysides.

After that, one of 4 locations will be chosen, either randomly or in the game parameters, the Indian Ocean, the Mediterranian, the Atlantic or the Northern Sea. Then the costal provinces bordering these bodies of water will start converting slowly to the religion "Cult of Cthulhu", secretly converting the owners of these provinces to this religion as well, which will result in the founding of a secret order also named Cult of Cthulhu.

After a while, when the high priest of the order has gained enough "Eldritch Knowledge", he/she can start an expedition to the source of the anomalies, which will be the sunken city of R'lyeh (Located somewhere in said body of water). The high priest will then resurface the city, unleashing armies of Deep Ones (Immortal Fishmen) and Cthulhus Star Spawn onto the world. The high priest will now become the Emperor of the Eldritch Empire (Name is debatable) and everyone who is part of the Cult will be presented with a choice.

They can either join the high priest directly, being vassalized if they are an independant ruler, revolting when they are a vassal and simply joining his court if they are landless. They can also keep their religion a secret, trying to destroy other nations from the inside, or they can openly convert the the COC (Cult of Cthulhu), if they want to present themselves as an ally to the Empire.

Gameplaywise, playing as the Eldritch Empire would play very simmilarly to the Aztecs from Sunset Invasion, but with the twist that the high priest is also the leader of a religious order and the religion itself.

The Eldritch Empire must now conquer at least 5 holy sites and the high priest must collect 25k Eldritch Knowledge. Once this is finnished, the high priest can start a ritual to finally awaken Cthulhu himself (This can be turned off completely in the parameters, or you can decide that only players can make that decision). Completing the ritual will take ~1 year, during which all bordering religions will have a wargoal against you, so be prepared. Once the ritual is finnished, the great old one will awaken once more to return to reek havok and then leave this earth behind forever. Every COC worshipper will be given the choice of remaining on earth or joining Cthulhu in a place beyond the stars.

Leaving this mortal plain could be a win condition maybe, or it will at least create a powerful bloodline for all of your descendant to share. Whatever it is, it must be spectacular.

If one was to conquer R'lyeh before the great awakening they will be presented with a choice, either let the city sink again until it's conjured by the next great high priest, destroy it for good, which will also kill your character, or usurpe the title of high priest for yourself, as you give in to the demands of the great old one.

    2. The order of Cthulhu

The Cult of Cthulhu itself will play fairly simmilar to base game Satanism mixed with the Hermetic Society, gaining "Eldrich Knowledge" through sacrifices, taking mind altering drugs or reading ancient books, all of which can yeald great rewards, but can result in insanity, deformations or even death. You can also dedicate your studies to one of the "Outer Gods" who boost some of your stats, but might screw you over randomly. Excamples would be:

    • Yog-Sothoth giving you increased Learning but might impregnate some of your daughters.
    • Nyarlathotep giving you increased Diplomacy but might impersonate you, starting revolts throughout your country.
    • Shub-Niggurath increases your Fertility but might deform your body.
    • Azathoth increases your Martial but might start randomly disintigrating members of your family and eventually you.

Other than that, Elditch Artifacts can also be collected. This is what I would have in mind:

    • The Necronomicon (A book that is needed for many complex rituals, like summoning the dead or starting plagues)
    • The Chalice of Blight (A grail filled with a fluid that cures all diseases and reverses ageing, but it must be taken at least once a year and it only filles up again after an act of debautchery or torture is commited)
    • The Shoggoth Stone (It can summon an army of Shoggoths, but it requires that sacrifice of a person every time, the higher his/her rank, the more Shoggoths will be summoned)
    • etc.

    3. The Counter Meassures

If the threat is great enough different religious leaders might form knightly and inquisitory orders to combat the Cult of Cthulhu. This will require a Moral Authority of 60 and there must be at least one independant ruler following the Cthulhu religion. If there hasn't been a Cthulhu ruler close to the specific religion for more than 5 years, all unlanded Orders will disband naturally, if they have land then they will not recieve financial aid by the leader of their religion.

    These Orders could be called:

    • Custos Mare (Protectors of the Sea) for Catholics
    • Archaíos Stratós (Ancient Army) for Orthodox
    • Haris Albahr (Protectors of the Sea) for Muslims
    • Makara Warriors for Eastern Asian Religions
    • JörmungandrVikings for Germanics

These Orders will generally be using light armors like hardened leather or gambeson that is lined with bronze so it doesn't corrode from the salt water, whilst using either spears, bows or crossbows.

Their mission will be to reconquer lost territories and secure Eldrich Artifacts, which are extremely hard to destroy, often requiring human sacrifices, tons of gold and years of preparation.

There could also be mercenaries who fight with or against the Eldritch Invasion.

    4. Other Features

    • Being randomly mind swapped by a Yithian, which might grant you a bonus to learning
    • Different stages of Insanity instead of just gaining the trait (From "Slightly Mad" all the way to "Crippeling Insanity")
    • Other Mental Disorders like Anger Issues or a Tinnitus
    • More physical disorders like "Inverted Knees" or "Melting Face"
    • The trait "Cursed Knowledge" which is automatically granted to every member of the Cult of Cthulhu and other people who have spendt too much time around Eldrich Horrors. This might result in unique interactions (A CuKn court physician could tell you about the Chalice of Blight if you are incurably sick or a CuKn smith could forge weapons and armor with weird side effects)
    • Sleeping with Deep Ones for gold (Some Shadow over Innsmouth shit).
    • Adopting a pet Shoggoth (I think they look adorable ( ;)
    • etc.

    5. Why I think this DLC would be great for CK3, even if a bit unrealistic for a company like paradox

    • Cthulhu is already in Crusader Kings II, as part of an unhistoric event (Click on the Link).
    • It incapsulates everything a DLC for a grand strategy game should be, as it has many sandbox elements and can be played in many different ways (Will you join the Eldritch Invasion, support it secretly, fight it on the battlefield or abuse the largescale conflict for quick landgrabs).
    • The Cthulhu-Mythos has a gigantic fanbase that could be capitalized on.
    • There are many sources the devs could pull inspiration from.
    • It would work perfectly with the game mechanics and setting.
    • It would still be more historically accurate than SSI.

If you have any more ideas, comment them below and I might incorperate them into the post. Have a nice weekend.

Edit 1: I forgot some of the spacing
