Why does Africa suck so much? (Semien)

I'm playing a Semien playthrough and even turned on raiding so I can actually get income put Ironman on cause save scumming is lame, holy shit, you have poor territory's in the first place surrounded by tribal so it costs you money just to expand and build a civilised settlement and if you get a tribal vassal jokes on you they stay tribal even if you convert their settlement because lol they like playing in the mud.

You're surrounded by enemy religions who are more powerful, you cant expand into the weak African rock worshipping tribes because attrition so you can only expand in the horn, you have to do shitty rain dances and shit which cost like 60 gold and have to randomly deal with floods which NO ONE ELSE has to deal with these random events, they randomly just take a big chunk of your money, kill important councillors or destroy your buildings just cause Africa? Like Africa is the only place in the world that dealt with floods and famine?

Then you have to deal with constant revolts because you invaded some shitty hipster Coptics or barbarian sand worshipping religions and now you have to spend most your money to raise mercenaries. I'm playing as gods fucking chosen people wtf.

Good challenge though.
