I used the character finder and invited the most qualified man I could find for steward. Is this guy the son of Satan or something?

Got ck2, love it but have some questions

    Posted: 14 Nov 2019 11:35 AM PST

Someone recommended ck2 on r/paradoxplaza and i love it. However, i'm a mega noob and I've managed to take a grand total of 3 provinces and had exactly zero competent, powerful heirs playing as various nations. So far, the best game I've had is as Charles of Pannonia 1337 start date, taking a coupla provinces but eventually getting an alliance w/ poland and them calling me into 2 wars with some Islamic powerhouse and the HRE. I have the base game with no DLC or mods.

    1. What DLC should I get? I want to get all that add playable nations but I don't need to get them all immediately. The ones I want are Charlemagne, Old Gods, Sword of Islam and Rajas.
    2. What do I need to know about military? I know about appointing flank commanders, raising levies, mercs (the basics) but what traits are good/bad for commanders? When can I get Retinues? I played Total War for a few months before so what's similar/different?
    3. How to keep my vassals in check? I know I need to make sure they like me to decrease revolt chance but I had a guy who had a +72 opinion revolt and take my kingdom screaming into the depths of hell.
    4. I have never had an child, ever. How the hell do I increase baby output?

    Thanks for the help.
