    CK3 needs more economy depth

    Posted: 07 Jan 2021 10:11 AM PST

CK2 was a cool game but the lack of economy depth was a big minus. CK3 repeats the same mistake. Yes, you manage a dynasty but even dynasties were involved in economy.

There is no trading between the nations, there is nothing like special materials that give you special abilities to craft for example better weapons because you own a high-quality iron mine or to get a money bonus because you own a gold or silver mine. Back then dynasties, kingdoms, and empires fought over trade routes, over counties with rich mines. Just remember why Frederick Barbarossa, the emperor of the Holy Roma Empire overthrew his cousin Henry the Lion. Because of the silver mines in Goslar. Or the Ottomans. They didn't march to the Balkans, to Kosovo because of the goats and sheep there but because of the silver mines.

The economy in any Paradox game is pretty simple and this is actually a missed chance to make the games even more replayable and fun. I hope modders will fix that but for now, it is a bit, yeah...

It is not really hard to do for the developers. They would need to copy-paste parts of the economy of Europa Universalis 4 into CK3. Problem solved.

I wish that large, multicultural empires could conscript multiple cultural Men-at-Arms

I'm doing a Mother of Us All run and I keep on saying to myself that it would be really cool if I could use Guinean Uplanders, Bush Hunters, and Mubarizun as I conquer lands of non-Hausa culture. Equally it would be awesome to have Longbowmen and Huscarls in the same army as a Scandinavian ruler.

Just a thought I had, what do y'all think?
