I hope Paradox will add the Crusader Kings Song of Yuletide to CKIII before December. Somehow it just isn’t Crusader Kings in December to me without Vikings singing about raiding!

Just in case anyone needs a refresher on how it sounds.

I have so many fond memories of this track from it randomly playing while I'm trying to install my family on a foreign throne to it randomly playing while I'm sacking the world as a Mongol Jewish nomadic horde. Absolutely no gameplay situation in December isn't improved by this carol coming on!

Is there really anything to do or a point in playing after forming an Empire?

    Posted: 15 Nov 2020 04:59 AM PST

Sorry for the upcoming rant, i really want to like this game more but these things keep disappointing me..

It seems like the highlights of the game are at the very start, when you are initially a small County or a Duchy surrounded by similar foes (Such as Ireland Munster start).

Having close battles, a small roster of characters which makes everything very personal, has a decent pace and fighting for that Kingdom title before a different ruler expands faster or you get screwed by partition.
In some territories the fight for the Empire title is also pretty fun, such as Poland creating the Balcan Kingdom or one of the English isles Kingdoms creating Empire of Brittania.
Seeing the popups for the first time and not knowing what to expect is also enjoyable.

Problem is after you do that(Which usually takes between 2-3 generations if you aren't completely screwed over by RNG) there's nothing left to do. The game is lacking in events and RP, you either continue expanding (Slowly or very fast depending on your size at that point), click away the repeating events and fight off rebels.
There's far too many vassals and characters to keep tabs on or care about anymore and all you do is fight on speed 5.

There's nothing really to do gameplay wise other than conquer and if you DO want to map paint and you're feudal that also becomes even more tedious than it already is as you keep waiting for fabricate claims to finish.

Diplomacy is not really existent and it's just a matter of getting people to like you enough not to attack you, and the only fun i can find in it as when i try to get my Dynasty to rule a different Kingdom by marrying my daughter to a second heir and then murdering the first heir.
But even that doesn't really work well as so many nations in 1066 (HRE, Most of Scandivia) use elective and not partition.

Crusades don't work well both because the friendly AI is horrible and because they themselves lack events and the aftermaths are usually shortlived.

Combat itself is just a numbers game and modifiers only matter when you're near equal.

The few RP elements that do exists are pointless as the game clearly has a "correct" way of playing it and a lot of minmaxing that if you avoid you become irrelevant. No Stressful choices are going to change the fact that in few events that do exist, there's almost always a consistently better choice between the 2-4 options:
Two people made a crime against the religion and you have the choice to either jail these two irrelevant people and lose some opinion, or literally become sinful at the eyes of the clergy and the rest of your realm. Hmmm i wonder what choice will i make..

Empires can't "fall". Sure you can be overthrown but the empire itself remains the same.
You need to REALLY screw up, pretty much intentionally to cause an independence war to properly divide you, and even if you do screw up, the AI prefer to replace you rather than to simply split the realm. Of course the same holds true for the larger AI. Large forces such as HRE and the Bzantine or Norway/Sweden who boomed, don't die out and simply grow enough till they reach it's others borders.
The only way to lose territory is for a larger Empire or banded Kingdoms to attack you.

The opposite is also true, if you start off as someone small in an area of larger realms or grow too slow compared to the nearby AI, you will usually be unable to recover.
Vassal playthroughs are a grind and you need to be a complete masochist to grind through them.
Especially HRE vassals that can't even fight each others due to Crown Authority.

The game really needs more events and choices, more ways to RP, making diplomacy matter for more than just a bar that decided if someone will attack you or not.
Combat needs to be at least a bit more indepth. Obviously this ain't no Total war, but something other than blobbing needs to happen.

    Question about Adultery in Islam

    Posted: 15 Nov 2020 04:53 AM PST

I was going through the list of faiths. I found that female adultery is only shunned in most Islamic faiths, as opposed to criminal in Christian. All Islamic faiths that deem adultery criminal applies it to both genders, as opposed to female only in most Christian faiths.

I am by no means familiar with historical or real world Islam. I had an impression that Islam is harsh on adultery and not a promoter of gender equality. So it was a surprise to me that, apparently adultery is more ok as a Muslim compared to Christian.

Can someone enlighten me to this matter? Is adultery more accepted in Islam? Has the stance towards adultery changed over time and how?

I finally created the character DNA that makes both genders attractive. I want to hear your opinion and if you have any Good Looking DNA please share.

    In depth Education Guide?

    Posted: 15 Nov 2020 08:29 AM PST

I just can't find a guide that explains more than the basics. It's really frustrating for me, that after 60h my heirs become 1 star semi-cretins because I don't understand the mechanics of how the stars are awarded.

If someone could provide the formula or a link I would be very grateful.

Is it possible to “keep under control” the papacy?

    Posted: 15 Nov 2020 04:51 AM PST

Plying a long long run started on Firence (di Canosa)

At some point I created a Religion: a new brand of the Catholicism.

The pope went bananas from that moment on and start declaring crusades on me every X years

The game is to end, but finally I managed to defeat him and invade Rome (the Latium duchy I think it's called)

So I have the pope in the dungeons and I control Rome.... but somehow I'm expecting he will still declaring crusades on me from dungeon

I feel it's impossible to stop a crusade I have lost like 9 times

If I execute him , I'm pretty sure a new one will get elected

Is something I can do? Where does the pope get that insane income? How can I control him?
