Is there a way to make crusades fire less often in CK3? To lower the frequency of crusades? My corrupt Pope calls for one every 10 years and Catholicism is almost decimated at this point..

    Posted: 12 Nov 2020 11:02 AM PST

I'm talking about changing something in the setting, debug, something to make it stop. The Catholic world keeps getting dunked on by Syria, but the Pope launches those crusades despite the overwhelming difference in power...

Our miserable 8-10k armies clash with 18-20k armies that wipe the floor with them... and what's worse, our sparse armies are separated to 2k-3k groups while the enemy moves as one immense unit.

To top it all off, we also lose 30 points of religious fervor, causing half the damn continent to become Lollard or whatever, Catholics are now a minority in Western Europe and it's just 1010.

The most difficult starting character in the game? My vote goes for Countess of Bedanford 1066

    Posted: 12 Nov 2020 03:26 AM PST

Started as the 69 year old countess of Devon with 10 children not of my dynasty. Still got an heir.

My obese and giant pope that somehow made it to 99 in ironman.

    Wrong Harald Hardrada (Rant)

    Posted: 12 Nov 2020 10:09 AM PST

Hello, this is a quick rant about "Harald Hardrada", that present in 1066 bookmark in CK3

So, I saw a number of inaccurate things about Hardrada. So, here are the reasons why:
    1. Harald in the game is from Yngling dynasty. This is wrong, Yngling dynasty is Lothbroke's sons' dynasty. And Harald Hardrada belongs to the house of Hardrada, which he created.
    2. His regnal number is IV in the game, while the Haralda Hardrada, which death brought the end to the Viking Age, had the regnal number of III. And Harald IV is not Hardrada, but Gille.
    3. This one is debatable, but I'll still talk about it. Harald's apparance is definitely referencing Harald I Fairhair's one. I judge it by his long lucious hair. But again, this point may not be valid, since there are quite many images of Hardrada.

So, if not counting my third point, first two are definitely wrong and must be fixed.
And if I'm wrong about some of the points, you can fix me.

How do you cause mayhem if you don't rely primarily on war (or kidnapping right before war start)?

    Posted: 12 Nov 2020 08:48 AM PST

TL:DR I want to drop the apple of discord instead of cry, "havoc", and unleash the dogs of war. What are fun ways to do that?

Hi, I'm a small-kingdom-build-tall-and-get-rich play style trying to understand how diplomacy/intrigue can be used offensively instead of 'haha you tried to kill your bro, now give me money". The only thing I can think of is giving them fertile daughters and watching their dynasty collapse by inheritance. . .

    Thoughts:

    • sway/befriend is at capacity: I'm mostly using it on my pope so I can convert piety to cash. In between, there is always an important person in my realm(vassal for elective votes, bishop, family) sway/befriend.

    • finding secrets on other rulers. Great for converting to money but unsure how I can use it to cause mayhem or give me nice port cities.

    • marry their daughter and assassinate all their other sons? does this even work? A bit too devious for my money-loving stewardship soul lol...

My character is homosexual. He already had 6 children when I took over at about 35-40 years old (religion permits 4 wives so that helped), but judging from the traits & using the Find Secrets action, those are his (don't know any better way to determine that). Also, all subsequent children came at the end of seduce schemes, traits match, and Find Secrets didn't come up with anything, so I am fairly sure those are his as well.

The character had 2 wives that cheated, they were promptly executed, but again, from what I can tell, no offspring came from those.

Shouldn't doing seduce schemes against your sexual orientation produce stress?

    Vassal choice

    Posted: 12 Nov 2020 11:23 AM PST

I'm playing with Tribal Irish and currently conquering England. Each time I conquer new land, I need to give them to some vassals.

How do I choose the best courtier to give the new land to ? In general, I try to give lands to lowborn people to avoid loosing lands through inheritance. But I cannot think of other info to use to select a suitable vassal (I already look for fitting religion and culture).
