    CK3 needs a prime minister/regent/vizier system.

    Posted: 09 Nov 2020 06:48 AM PST

I feel like there's already a chance of this happening one day, since a very important historical vizier is alive in the 1066 start, Nizam al-Mulk. He is in the county of Tus in-game and has excellent stats, even though he's a bit old. Historically, he became the vizier and de-facto ruler of the Seljuk empire after Alp-Arslan was assassinated in 1072.

Even though this could make child heirs a little less devastating as long as you have a viable regent around, I see some problems it could cause. CK is a game about family history, and no matter what, you are playing down the line of succession of your chosen dynasty, and not as a political entity like in most strategy games. So playing directly as your regent would obviously undermine that. But at the same time, having your regent's AI do all of the actual gameplay until your character comes of age would be very boring at the moment. Even if Paradox added a lot of gameplay that doesn't center around governance, it still would have a ton of problems, such as the AI being dumb and screwing up your realm.

Paradox would also have to simulate the possibility of the regent usurping your dynasty, while also keeping it fun. I could see working your way up to an empire, only to lose it all because you picked an over ambitious regent who happened to be backed by your vassals, to be the kind of thing to make someone quit the game.

Tl;dr: I want a regency system in the game, but I can see a ton of problems that it could cause, so I'm unsure of what it would look like if implemented.

RNG made me depressed for my character and his son.

    Posted: 09 Nov 2020 10:33 AM PST

After the death of my last character, his 16-year-old youngest son inherited the empire. I was looking at my new characters relationships when I noticed he had a childhood friend with good inheritable traits. So, I decided to romance her. It worked. She became my soulmate and we married each other. Not long after that she became my best friend also and became pregnant. She gave birth to a wonderful little boy with traits from both parents. A couple of months went by and she became pregnant again. The day of the childbirth came but something horrible happened. She and the child die during childbirth. My character went from zero to critical stress at the moment. It even made me sad. So, I decided for roleplay, that my character was so depressed that he decided to never marry again. Years went and notice to marry was in my corner of the screen but have no plans to not do anything. But one day something happened. My female marshal became my best friend. She was young and with good traits, so I change my mind and romance with her. It worked and after years of heartbreak, my character found love again. She became pregnant. But RNGFate strikes. She too dies with our child during childbirth. My character became most stressed that is possible in-game. He died in a couple of months due to it. Now I am playing as his only child, his 9-year-old son. That does not even remember his mother's face due to her death when he was young.

I don't remember 90 percent of characters that I have played but those two sticks with me.

Not even two whole years into the game, and France has managed to gain a hold of all of England. So much for the Hundred Years' War.

Stumbled upon this last night. While finding secrets in foreign ruler's courts, I found that all the rulers had a lover secret, and soon enough figured out ... they all had the same lover. Turned out one of the other players was seducing every ruler they could find.

... Which is a pretty good strategy. Early in the game there are hardly any secrets populated, and often you end up with lover secrets about people with no money. Have a player seduce rulers with lots of money, then find secrets in their court to rake in the dough, getting 200-300 gold a pop. Split the profits with Send Gift afterwards.

There should be an option to opt out of being elected in the HRE.

    Posted: 09 Nov 2020 09:43 AM PST

I would probably also be historical, if you were to tell the electors you have no ambition to be Kaiser and didn't want the title. Also much better for those who want to play a decent vassal game in HRE without ending up Kaiser in 2 generations.

What the fuck is going on with the Pure-blooded trait. Is it bugged? I selected pure blooded as congenital. After 25 kids with a pure blooded husband I still have not gotten a single pure blood.

Do bonus' simply not stack with pure blood?
