I was playing as Duke Otto of Bavaria in 1066. I had high diplomacy so I used that to get everyone to like me. My vassals loved me, my fellow vassals in the HRE loved me, even the peasants loved me. I was a good ruler. I went on pilgrimages to serve God and the catholic faith. I was a very pious man, did everything based on the catholic virtues, raised my sons and daughters the catholic way. After waging a couple wars for claims on neighboring lands, lands started to just be given to me by my liege and the pope. I finally created the Kingdom of Bavaria. I Created a mighty alliance with Bohemia and continued on with my pious and just rule.

Then it happened, the pope was exposed to be a lustful sodomite. So like any good catholic would do, I condemned him. Pope or not, a sin is a sin. Come to find out, the pope was a very vindictive person. At 68 years old, basically on my deathbed, about to go down in history as one of the great rulers of this land, the pope decides in a last-ditch act of petty revenge, to excommunicate me.... I died a month later and it said my soul was going to hell.

All that work at being a great ruler, and the pope comes in and gets pissy that I didnt like that he sinned and ruins my legacy.

That bastard.
