    Every time I lose my shit in this game, and vow to wipe out some entire family, it goes poorly. Leads to gameover or quitting in frustration.

    And one of my favorite things about it is the story driven narrative of each and every character. Sometimes an event pops up that fits your character's personality and you have no choice but to accept an absurd negative outcome.

    I remember one game where I, a lunatic, inherited my father's kingdom after decades of prosperous rule. I decided (or rather the game decided) to fire my father's able Chancellor to replace him with my horse, Glitterhoof. We all know Glitterhoof by now.

    Since I was a lunatic, I had no choice but to appoint Glitterhoof Chancellor of Scotland, envoy to the lords of the land and the kings and queens of Europe.

    I did, however, have the choice of whether or not I was going to fuck him.

    Like I said, I love this game.

    Getting a bit bored with playing as Ireland. Any suggestions?

    Hey there,

    I'm very new to CK2 having only clocked in around 35 hours so far. All of this time has involved playing as Ireland, and I've managed to form the Kingdom of Ireland, as well as conquer most of Scotland and part of Wales. I've also helped the Pope with a Crusade against Cairo, which was a lot of fun, but I feel as though things are starting to get a bit stale.

    I was thinking of trying out a Viking start, but don't know whether that's the best choice as I've only played as Ireland so far? Does anyone have suggestions on an interesting start that's suitable for beginners please (preferably one that has interesting event chains - Ireland doesn't seem to have many of those)?
